Time Machien for linux

A while back I made a post about a project which claimed to be time machine for Linux. If you read that article you can quickly figure out I really didn't like the project. But now I think I found another one which seems to work. Its called, flyback and is a system back up utility. Its very easy to get running, the directions can be found here on there website. But if you need help just leave a comment and I will see what I can do. When you first start flyback this is what it will look like:

the preferences look like this and is where you can choose where you want to back up your files and choose which directories you want to back up:

Basically its the same idea as Time Machine for mac but without the looks. I would like to see what the developers over at compiz fusion could do with this, and snazz it up and make it actually work like Time Machine.

Can I put this on an external HD which already has files on it? It would be nice if I could get this app to put the backups in a folder. Sorry for the stupid question, just want to be sure:D

BTW, a very good blog you're running here.

unfortunelty I do not have an external hard drive to test this out on myself. But you may be able to select your external hard drive then select a folder to back up to on the external hard drive, this woudl make sense to me, but not sure if you can.

I would say just give it a try and see if it will let you pick a folder on your external hard drive, and if you do try it out please share your results with us.

sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer.
Actually I couldn't get the app to work at all. It looks like it didn't see what location I had set and such (from terminal output).. However "sbackup" does a brilliant job (from repos).
Hmmm flyback seemed to work for me, but maybe i will review sbackup next when i get some more free time
