Awn-Terminal Applet

This is a supper cool new applet which brings the terminal to the dock! I usually like to start off with a nice screen shot:

This is just a nice easy way to have your terminal on the dock. I don't really see any advantages of using it other then it looks cool. The forum post about this applet is here. Also you can find the download link via that forum post too. I wont link directly to the download link because it will probably change if updates come out.

Also just to note, you can't drag this tar into the applets to have awn-manager install it. You need to extract the download and cd into the directory and run:

./autogen.sh

make

sudo make install

Then you will have it installed and be able to add it to the dock via your awn-manager.

One thing that bugs me is pasteing doesn't work in this terminal yet... once that gets implemented it will be perfect!

well i wouldn't say useless because it is still a functioning terminal
I disagree. It's extremely useful. I no longer have to have several terminals cluttering my desktop. I can install multiple applets and dedicate each applet to a different task (one for sql, one for ...)
I know, but for some reason I prefer the actuall terminal, I wouldn't mind a drop down terminal when you press tilde like in battlefield 1942. :P

I think there is a way to do this on ubuntu, maybe i post about is someday
Try stjerm.

By the way, I'm the applet developer. As I said in my original post on the forums, it isn't the most useful applet ever. I don't use it that much myself, because I usually start up awn from the command line so I have a terminal running anyway. :)

I have a few other things that I'm working on, and I think that some of them will be more useful. I'll post more details about that on the forums and my blog later.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback on what (if anything) would make it more useful.
I really like the applet, although I can't use Vi in it, as pressing Escape to exit Insert/Replace mode just hides the terminal instead of going back to Command mode.
I run the awn at startup. So I find this pop up terminal useful whenevr i want to type in some simple commands like if i want to use aptitude. :-)

I can't exit the terminal, as if I type "exit" command, the terminal is useless, as I can't type and it doesn't exit.

why do u want to exit it? just minimize it back to the dock...
Just like Dave I can't edit, so at the end this pretty terminal it's useless. It'll be perfect if one could edit docs and open tabs.

But it's a good job this applet
There are 2 things that would improve it a lot, otherwise great applet.

1. Being able to paste in it would help

2. Being able to clear it.
pasteing does work in this applet
When using screen in the terminal, example: "screen irssi" the backspace doesnt work anymore :(
i love this applet! btw to exit editing in vim you can also use CTRL-C
